I may get a bug. And Delian (whenever you comment) I still cannot get over how similiar we are. I don't like classical music either so for a time I focused on just chords for worship songs.
Switchfoot is ok, and I don't really listen to any of the other stuff too much.
I'm a streaky rock/alternative listener.
I dig all of U2's stuff, I'm always down Coldplay, then I like David Grey (pop/folk/rock), I think Keane is alright, and right now I'm really getting into Sigur Ros (An Icelandic alternative band. they sing in gibberish. sometimes it's instrumental, sometimes it's rock, and I heard one of their songs that sounded like opera. They sound pretty good.).
So basically I like bands from the UK, and international. I don't really like the North American punkish fad that's been going around the last couple of years, but I can stomach it alright.
And slowly but surely I am becoming sympathetic to country music. I thought it would never happen.
I do like switchfoot, Barlow Girl, and Superchik. But I prefer hard rock like Kutless, Pillar, TFK, and those groups. Check my profile and you will see.
And I agree with Dams. If any of you ever had to drive in the Festiva for a long period of time you would have to listen to some intense Opera, and classical piano. Sometimes we even get a little Bohemian Rhapsody going. Harsh.
wow it sounds like we're saying you don't need to do scales if you're just focusing on worship music. I'd pretty much have to disagree w/ that. but w/e. country is the best btw.
No, of course you have to do scales. I actually loved them for a time more than any other stuff I was practicing. But, then they got harder. Either that or I got lazier:-) And do not get started about how much you like country. Everyone at Metro doesn't have to like it just because you Phillips do;)
I have never said that I like or dislike country. Because whichever one I choose I will be shunned by someone. So the safest thing is to say nothing:-)
1)i can't believe joe is defending country. wasn't there a heated discussion about that in canada? or mabye taht was someone else 2)i am still a metro lifer for 2 more weeks and i like country. well actually i don't hate all of it...and that was before the phillips even came. 3)my bro is strange that way. probably didn't even read the comments. pianists are a little loopy. (heehee sorry jake)

So boring. Expand.
Feel the music.
Sure scales and the hard practicing stinks, but it helps you do what you want to do better.
I've never liked Classical (even before I tried playing it)...
So then, what kind of rock music do yall usually listen to?
HAhahaha.
Most likely not the kind you like to listen to.
Let's see. I'll check your profile.
Nope. Sorry.\

i don't like them!
dang. not even a little classical? that is sadness! hopefully neither of you will ever have to ride with me when i feel like listening to it.
(it's so lame but i get tense when the music is dark and dramatic and not tense when it sounds like light or stars. haha)
Ahhh joshua. It's so long till february. We need another phone call. Miss you as well.
Kutless. Ouch. I don't like them at all. Sorry.

The scales and the hard practicing aren't that bad if you really love your instrument.

First, who's Shroderhoffer or whoever that was, second, why is Betty's bro repeating what I say, and third, what's not to like about country?
HAha.

I've never listened to them.
But I won't. I'm going to stubborn and rather close minded about this one.
